Intel Centrino Advanced N 6205 Agn Hackintosh

Advanced

This is a crosspost of Haven't been able to get my wireless card working in Ubuntu 10.04. $ uname -r 2.6.32-23-generic It's an Intel Centrino AGN 6250. I've installed the Intel 6050 microcode from here and rebooted $ rfkill list 0: phy0: Wireless LAN Soft blocked: no Hard blocked: yes $ rfkill unblock all $ rfkill list 0: phy0: Wireless LAN Soft blocked: no Hard blocked: yes $ sudo ifconfig wlan0 up SIOCSIFFLAGS: Unknown error 132 Seems odd. Any other info I can provide? Any help would be appreciated. Wondering if all of these should be there? $ ls -la /lib/firmware/ grep ucode -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 3-05-26 12:10 iwlwifi-1000-3.ucode -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1-05-26 12:10 iwlwifi-3945-2.ucode -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1-05-26 12:10 iwlwifi-4965-2.ucode -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 3-05-26 12:10 iwlwifi-5000-1.ucode -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 3-05-26 12:10 iwlwifi-5000-2.ucode -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 3-05-26 12:10 iwlwifi-5150-2.ucode -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 4-05-26 12:10 iwlwifi-6000-4.ucode -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 4-07-11 22:35 iwlwifi-6050-4.ucode Last edited by jseabold; July 13th, 2010 at 06:51 PM.

Reason: Solved the problem. I wonder if it could have been done without the dual boot option by removing all power and letting the system sit for while. What is your hardware? Maybe, but I installed and uninstalled Ubuntu several times with the same result.

I also had problems with Win 7 overwriting the MBR through retail vendor software, and I don't think the bluetooth was working in Ubuntu until I also toggled it in Windows. I saw this fix mentioned on another site for the hard block problem. The machine is a brand new Dell Studio.

I don't know the motherboard, but the wireless is an Intel Centrino WiFi/WiMax 6240 AGN.

Does anyone have ideas of things to check and/or try? Last edited by wesphys (2013-07-02 16:25:13). Another suggestion, I read a thread[1] where the guy was disabling the wireless antenna with hotkey under Windows, and could only access the card under linux after re-enabling it from Windows.

If you still have Win installed, it might be worth to check if that is not your case. [1] Edit: Also, you could check if the card is working under another (live) distro.

Thanks for the link. I hope it's not that because I nuked my win install. The live distro is a good suggestion. I am making a live usb Ubuntu now. I will let you know how it goes. I think it is actually a Fn+F# combination.

That is how it has started to be on many new Lenovo systems. For example on my E430 it is Fn+F9. The availability of this function is handled by the thinkpad_acpi module and the /proc/acpi/ibm/hotkey file. If this button exists on your machine, you may want to have a look at the thinkpad-acpi docs in the linux-docs package. Ah, yes Fn+F8 appears to be 'airplane mode' (disable all radios). Just pressing it doesn't do anything, but I will look into the thinkpad-acpi docs.
